Taro Funfetti Cake & Coconut Buttercream

Our team really wanted to start an exploration on the different possibilities of our flavoring products. While we know they work great for Bubble Tea, the possibilities only start there.

Our team is by no means expert bakers, so this a home friendly recipe that can be used to impress your family and friends at any special occasion. (We celebrated 1 year of iBEV!)

So, if you want to add an extra punch of flavor to your next birthday cake we invite you to use this recipe or explore our other flavor options yourself. We can’t wait to see your creations. Tag us @ibev.llc on Instagram and use #CreateWithiBEV to show us.

Taro Cake Recipe

  • 1 Box of Cake Mix of Your Choice (we used funfetti)

  • 1 and 1/2 Cups of Taro Powder

  • 2-4 tbsp. of Water

To make the cake we simply followed the recipe on the back of the box and then incorporated in 1 and 1/2 cups of Taro Powder and about 2-4 tablespoons of additional water to keep the cake consistency nice. We chose to bake ours in a bundt cake pan for some added style points (make sure to spray your cake tin with oil to ensure it releases nicely. Fully allow to cool before piping on your buttercream.

Coconut Buttercream Recipe

  • 2 Cups Powdered Sugar

  • 1 Stick of Butter

  • 3 tbsp. Whole Milk

  • 1/3 Cup of Coconut Powder

For a delicious butter cream mix room temperature butter, powder sugar, milk, and coconut powder using an eclectic mixer. We found that the coconut buttercream was a perfect flavor compliment to our taro cake. Don’t have a piping bag? No worries, simply fill a plastic bag with your buttercream and cut the corner tip of the bag off. Use this to pipe you buttercream on to the cake similar to the image above.
